The story of Peaches Records & Tapes
Peaches Records & Tapes opened in Atlanta, Georgia in 1975 and was an instant success before long there was a Peaches Record store in most major cities in America.
Peaches holds fond memories for people who used to shop there. Each Peaches Record store had a personal feeling, more like a mom-and-pop / family-run store than a huge chain.
Even 40 years later, everything still sticks in peoples minds. From the T-Shirts, the smell of the store, to the peach crates that the records were kept in. Sadly the last Peaches Records and Tapes store closed in 2001.
Many bands and music icons visited the store and just like at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, they would place their hands in wet concrete to commemorate their visit. Including Paul McCartney, Kiss and of course Joan Jett and her band The Runaways.
We have offered the Peaches Records & Tapes T-Shirt worn by Joan Jett since 2007. It has been a popular design with both veteran Worn Free wearers, celebrities and most recently with a new gang of fashion savvy young ladies on Instagram @alienplannts and @wenneq.
Here are some other famous Peaches T-Shirt wearers, including Soul Brother #1 James Brown!
Debbie Harry (Blondie)
