Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. (Aug 20, 1942 – Aug 10, 2008) was an American soul singer, actor, and producer. He was a creative force behind Stax Records both as an in-house songwriter, a session musician and producer.  

Isaac Hayes (with David Porter) wrote the hit song 'Soul Man',  and he is also well known for the musical score for the '71 film 'Shaft'Hayes, Porter and Booker T (Booker T & the M.Gs) were also produced many Stax artists in the mid '60s including Sam & Dave & Carla Thomas. His musical influences include Percy Mayfield, Sam Cook, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Fats Domino, Jerry Butler, the Chambers Brothers and Sly and the Family Stone. Check out our vintage t-shirt collection as worn by soul legend Isaac Hayes.
