Michael "Mick" Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993) was an English guitarist, songwriter, instrumentalist, arranger and producer - but best known for his work with David Bowie. His solo album was 'Slaughter on 10th Avenue (featuring a version of Elvis's 'Love Me Tender') reached #9 on the UK Albums Chart. His '77 single 'Billy Porter' although it did not chart is still a cult classic.
Ronson was trained in classical music. Growing up he wanted to be a cellist, but turned to the guitar after hearing Duane Eddy. As a session musician he recorded with Mott the Hoople, Lou Reed, Van Morrison Morrissey and John Mellencamp. And appeared with many touring bands backing Van Morrison and was a member of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review". Check out our Worn Free collection as worn by guitar hero Mick Ronson.
