Chris Hillman T-shirt/Flying Burrito Brothers
Chris Hillman and Gram Parsons were visionaries in their own right. They set a clear path towards a new genre of music later referred to as country rock or alternative country.
Chris began his musical journey playing bluegrass mandolin in the Scottsville Squirrel Barkers, a band formed in San Diego in 1962-63. From there he went on to join the Byrds and achieve worldwide acclaim.
Gram began his career as a folk singer growing up in Northern Florida. With a shared love of country music with Chris they soon became fast friends and Gram was hired to play in the Byrds in 1968. In 1969 they formed the Flying Burrito Brothers and went on to record two albums.
After Gram left the band in 1970, Chris continued with the band recording two more albums.
Their music and songwriting has left an indelible mark on country music lasting through decades.
