Willie Hall - Hollywood T-Shirt
Drummer Willie Hall seen here wearing our Hollywood t-shirt was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He is the father of rapper Project Pat. A protege of Booker T. & the MGs drummer Al Jackson, Jr., Hall played with both The Bar-Kays and Isaac Hayes's band The Movement. In the seventies, he backed dozens of major Stax artists on recordings, including on Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul (1969) and Theme from Shaft (1971) albums, and on several Albert King albums. He recorded one album (1977's Universal Language) with Booker T. & the MGs after Jackson's murder, and later joined guitarist Steve Cropper and bass player Donald "Duck" Dunn as a member of The Blues Brothers Band, which subsequently led to his appearance in the hit movie The Blues Brothers (film) and its sequel. Hall is currently a member of The Bo-Keys, a band of highly respected Memphis musicians, including Isaac Hayes's wah-wah guitarist Charles "Skip" Pitts. |
