Joey Ramone - Capitol Theatre Shirt

The Ramones played several times at the Capitol Theater in Passaic New Jersey. Once the Runaways opened for them there, another time it was Suicide.  Passaic was close enough to Manhattan so the New York fans could go down and see the shows.

Joey Ramone wore this shirt for a wedding sequence in a special edition of Punk magazine called "Mutant Monster Beach Party", a  story told in photographs, kind of like a little movie.  The plot involved star crossed lovers played by  Joey and Debbie Harry, forbidden to see each other by Debbie's father, played by Chris Stein.

As the story unfolds, Joey and Debbie battle bikers (including John Cale and Peter Wolf of J. Geils), surfers and a huge monster created by an experiment gone awry in the laboratory of  mad scientist Andy Warhol. In the end it all works out, and Joey and Debbie are married in a lavish ceremony by  priest David Johansen with Joan Jett serving as bridesmaid.

Debbie arrived on time for the ceremoney, wearing a sexy red dress. Joey was over an hour late and wore his Capitol Theater t-shirt and black leather jacket. After the ceremony Debbie's character forgets to take her medication and turns into John Water's star Edith Massey on the honeymoon!
