Peter Cook - California Fish T-Shirt

Peter Cook achieved his greatest comedic visibility as the partner-in-sketch of piano-tinkling Dudley Moore, but like many of his Oxbridge-educated contemporaries he was a bit of a renaissance man. The proprietor of the satire-nurturing nightclub The Establishment, he provided both seed money for the renowned satirical publication Private Eye and served for a time as its editor. During his tenure there, Cook was the first British journalist to name the notorious Kray Brothers as the terrors of London's underworld. In 1982, Peter Cook was photographed outside Private Eye's offices, wearing a seemingly incongruous California Fish T-shirt.
